Description

Food engineering is dedicated to the design, development and management of food manufacturing processes, employing sustainable technologies and based on quality and safety systems that guarantee safe, nutritious, appetizing and accessible food for the population.

What you will learn

This program consists of 45 courses planning through fives years plus six moth of graduation process, the courses are distributed in the following areas:

1. Science and Mathematics

Includes the scientific training necessary to understand the principles and fundamentals of engineering, some courses are Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics

2. Engineering sciences

These courses cover the bases to understand the process technologies used in all engineering, here includes Material and energy balance, Process thermodynamics, Unit operations, to name some.

3. Social Outreach and Humanism

Students have 5 elective courses, they can choose in different areas such as environment, climate change, ecology, ethics, sociology, writing techniques, philosophy, etc.

4. Applied engineering

The applied engineering courses offer the student training for the processing of food in these areas: Food Science and Technology, Quality and Food Safety. Here includes Food Science, Food Processing and Quality Control to name some.

Curriculum

Our Labs

Practical work provides our students a better learning experience. Some of the laboratories where they carry our their practice are:

    • Chemical Science
    • Biology and Biochemistry
    • Food Science and Technology
    • Instrumental Analysis
    • Applied Microbiology
    • Field trips and visits to companies also complement the learning experience.

Schedule

This program has been designed for full time students. From the first to the fourth year the schedule are daytime, however, the fifth year, the classes are programming early at the morning (7:00 to 8:40) and late at the afternoon (17:30 to 20:10). This allows final year students to do internships or get their first job.
